Queens Casino Makes a Significant Contribution to the Community

Despite the fact that 2021 was a rough year, Resorts World New York City continued to support community organizations and non-profits in Queens. The gaming resort has donated more than $500,000 to a number of organizations in the neighborhood. This donation was aimed at showing its commitment and duty to local communities and individuals.

The Queens donated $50K to the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens, supporting its after-school and universal Pre-K programs and assisting over 5,000 kids in the city. Employees from the hotel also took part in BGCMQ’s Career Day, where they spoke about vocations and bought pre-K kids’ wish lists for a Secret Santa.

Another example of the company providing significant funds to local charities is its $20 K contribution to two Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning projects: the yearly Jamaica Flux public art project and Black History Month activities. The casino partnered with York College to offer a course for students looking out for careers in the gaming business.

In furthermore, after the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s visitation policy was lifted, the Queens gambling hotspot assisted patients in bonding with their loved ones. Patients at the hospital who screened positive for the virus received iPads thanks to a $15,000 donation from Resort World. It has also sent $30,000 to the Queens Chamber of Commerce, which will cover the yearly subscription fees for over 40 small companies impacted by the lockdowns.

The casino’s donations to the Swim Strong Foundation, Louis Armstrong House Museum, the 106th Precinct Community Council, City Meals on Wheels, etc., are another instance of its generous support. These were presented as part of Resorts World Gives, a corporate philanthropy program that contributes to the socio-economic development of local communities.

The efforts and contributions of Resorts World New York City to the local economy and neighborhoods have not gone unnoticed. In March 2021, a local Queens alliance comprised of non-profits and groups backed the property in its search of a full-fledged casino license. As per the alliance, it is converting the property into a full-fledged business that will increase employment and boost the economy.

The state of New York is currently working to expedite the issuance of the three available downstate casino licenses. The results of the New York State Gaming Commission’s Request for Information from possible buyers were released in December. Over 30 responses were obtained, according to the regulator, comprising bids from at least eight casino companies. As a result, Resorts World NYC will be up against stiff competition for one of the spots.
